Our Events

Our Fall Fashion Show - Sex and the City WAS fantastic!  Monica and Marilyn did an amazing job with this event – and thanks to these ladies, the owners of Pink Avenue, Linda Davis of Petals, the Hilton, Shades Salon and YOU – we made over $3,500 after all expenses!!  For those of you that missed it – you do not want to miss anymore of the Guild’s events this year!!

Jackie Menzel will be our hostess for our first New Member Coffee at her home in West Melbourne on September 22 at 10 a.m. Our membership Vice Presidents, Donna & Dalene have put together a lovely coffee so that our new members can get to know something about the Women's Center Guild and the work that we do plus enjoy fellowship.  It is also a good time to bring a friend that you would like to see get involved with the Guild.  For more information, please contact Donna McMaster at 427-6220 or email her at mcmasterfl@bellsouth.net

Dr. and Mrs. Ross Clevens are holding their annual Health, Wellness and Beauty Luncheon on October 8th at the Hilton Rialto.  Look for your invitation in the mail!  This is always a lot of fun and very informative!

Bodies of Art is going to be a fabulous art exhibit to be held on November 1st at the Melbourne Yacht Club at 6:30 p.m.  Look for the “BODIES” displayed in various galleries and locations around Melbourne!!  There will be cocktail food and an open bar!! The tickets are $50 – a bargain for a fun evening of art, food and a drink!!  Please contact Sue Tompkins at 729-0234 for information and/or tickets!  Come and support the Women’s Center through art!!

The plans are under way for Tennis Under the Stars 2009. We are excited about Luke Jensen, tennis professional and ESPN and CBS sports color announcer, coming to the Kiwi Club Saturday, March 7 for an afternoon and evening of fun. He will be participating in various clinics and exhibitions. There will be a buffet dinner and cocktails. We are also planning several raffles. This is where we are asking for your help. If anyone has any leads on where we might secure some of the possible raffle items listed below, please let us know. We’ll do all the work…we’re just looking for leads. General News/Announcements

There were two pairs of glasses left at the Sex and the City luncheon – one is a pair of sunglasses and the other – a pair of purple reading glasses.  Please contact me at mbs7254@aol.com if they are yours!

We are beginning to put together the yearbook so the deadline of September 30 is coming up!  If you have not renewed, you will not be listed in the Guild yearbook so PLEASE RENEW TODAY!

KIWI TENNIS CLUB has offered a terrific opportunity for WCG members to join with NO initiation fees.  This offer is open to brand new members to Kiwi – and after the next 4 sign ups (I was first in line to take up this great offer!) – Kiwi will donate 15% of the dues back to the Women’s Center Guild!  Please contact Kate Hall at 321.773.2116 ext. 19 and she will take care of you!

Paula Savage-Harr was at the Sex and the City and looked fabulous – we were all glad to see that she is back and feeling great!

Please remember Joy Inventasch's granddaughter, Alex in your prayers.  She will be coming home this weekend but they still need prayers as they struggle with Alex's condition.

I want to share a wonderful quote that Marion Collins sent me – it helped me renew my faith in those who are positive and willing to work hard for a great cause – and discount those who are critical without offering solutions! Something to live by!!

A Word from Marion Collins:  "Who Deserves the Credit?"

"It's not the critic who counts; not the (wo)man who points out how the strong (wo)man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done better.  The credit belongs to the (wo)man who is actually in the arena....who, at best, knows in the end the triumph of great achievement, and who, at the worst, if (s)he fails, does so while daring greatly.  (At least, her) place will never be with cold, timid, (critical) souls who know neither victory nor defeat."              ---by Theodore Roosevelt (parentheses by Marion)

“May we all jump into the arena and show our support to this young, dynamic Guild board with our words, deeds and pocketbooks.” Marion Collins

Thank you, Marion – your trust and confidence will stay with me a lifetime!

If anyone has news or updates or suggestions that they would like to share, please feel free to call me at 242-4564 or email me at mbs7254@aol.com.
