Jenny Gessler, Executive Director![]() Dear Guild Members, I'd like to welcome Christine Lance, as the new Guild President, as well as the new Board. This is an exciting time at the Woman's Center and I am so happy you are a part of it! Without the help of the Guild, the Women's Center could not function. We are diligently working to obtain grants and donations from foundations, which has been challenging due to current grant cuts. The renovations at Tranquility Cove are in the final stages and we are so pleased with the "new look." Once the renovations are complete, we will be able to house 13 families there. Have you visited our new furniture warehouse? It is now Furniture and More located at 253 Babcock Street. The new facility is much larger, and Sandy Barnidge and her volunteers have done a splendid job laying out the new building. Since the location is more visible, they are keeping busy -- and the best part - making money! Furniture and More accepts donations of furniture and household goods, and resells it to the community. Proceeds are used to provide a Vocational Training Program for women. Lacy Allen is our new Director of Community Relations and Volunteer Services. Lacy has been working with the Women's Center for over a year as the Front Desk Manager and then as a Case Manager. We have several volunteer positions open. Our biggest need now is for caseworkers, to help clients identify and address their needs. If you know of someone who might be interested in volunteering at the Women's Center, please encourage them to call Lacy. Again, thank you so much for your continued support of the Women's Center. I look forward to working with all new Guild members. It's because of your dedication and hard work that we are able to serve our community efficiently and effectively. Sincerely, Dr Jenny Gessler The Women's Center is located at: 1425 Aurora Road, Melbourne, FL, (321) 242-3110. Jenny Gessler, PhD. is the Executive Director. The Center opened in 1975. Services include: Counseling, assistance with domestic violence, incest survival, depression, eating disorders, divorce and anger management. |
